In light of the recent Direwolves 6.0 turning out so perfectly, I’ll be updating some older Game of Thrones-inspired jerseys to match the more recent designs. The Baratheon/Royals 2.0 design gets a deeper gold, new front logo, and new shoulder patches. New fonts for the name and numbers too.

House Lannister and House Greyjoy will also be getting updates in the coming days, and I’m still working on a new Night’s Watch design as well (no ETA on that).

These won’t be immediately offered, instead they’ll be listed in the By Demand section on the Geeky Jerseys homepage. My hope is to spur more interest in other Houses, because right now only House Stark is a sure bet to be offered on a regular basis.

I don’t mean to disappoint folks, but my design focus will be on the top five houses (Stark, Baratheon, Lannister, Targaryen, and Greyjoy) and Night’s Watch. Other houses like Martell and Tully are not on the radar for the foreseeable future.

There are many people asking for other houses to be offered (like Targaryen or Lannister), but it’s very difficult to accommodate everyone currently. Gone are the days when I could offer 2 or 3 GoT designs at the same time. Geeky Jerseys now only offers 2-4 hockey jersey designs a month to ensure quality, and the big hitters like Doctor Who and Star Wars usually grab all the available spots. If folks sign-up for designs in the By Demand section, Geeky Jerseys will offer that design.

Hopefully that clears things up a bit! Sorry if you’re waiting on your House to be offered.

As a tribute to the excellent Hunger Games sequel, I made this design based on the uniforms worn by the film’s combatants. At the last minute I removed the 75 and District 12 logos for a cleaner look; also I thought it would helpful to keep this jersey district-neutral for now.

While the film applauds “rogue” fashion designers, this design won’t be offered by yours truly. However if your team is interested I might be able to help you out with your private order.

Time for a new Link design! Some folks weren’t entirely enamored with the Link 3.0 design, mainly my decision to use blue forearms and a lighter green. I was trying to emulate this character design, but alas it didn’t work. The 3.0 was still a hit, but not the homerun I was swinging for.

So I decided to bring back the green and brown from the 2.0 design, but this time I added Vegas Gold to echo the trim in this character design. I then changed the font to match the recent Direwolves jersey, which turned out perfect.

Shadow Link has been a popular request, so I mirrored the 4.0 design (of course). It looks evil alright!

I was also playing with the idea of a more “sinister” shield, but decided to remain true to the mirrored nature of the Shadow Link (or Dark Link as he is also known):

Lastly I decided to retain the shield from the Link 3.0 design, because the final embroidery looked amazing:

I’m not going to reinvent the wheel here! Thought I’d make the name font skinnier, and the number font a bit similar to the recent Stay Puft jersey. The numbers are also moved off the sleeves so I could add more visual interest to the arms. All numbers are black now.

I’d like to go on record saying I did play around with this design. Stuff like red numbers with black outlines, elbow patches,  fake zipper patches, and so on. Ultimately I followed my mantra: keep it simple. After the Link 3.0 experience I felt it best to evolve the design yet remain true to what folks liked before.

Hellboy/BPRD was a popular request on the Facebook page a few weeks ago, and I am happy to finally oblige. I enjoyed the films (and animated films), but that’s the extent of my knowledge about the character, so I hope this passes muster with Red’s fans.

I channeled the Stockton Thunder logo for this design, with the color palette of the Ottawa Senators. The khaki main body with BPRD shoulder patches represents Hellboys overcoat. The red forearms also represent the character.

I’ll probably revisit the design to add a back neck patch (the unused logo doesn’t sit well). I know the NHL doesn’t do this (unless you think the Reebok logo counts), but I like to add geeky tags to all my designs.

No plans to sell this ever, Mua-hahahahaha-ha!

I mentioned a few weeks back that I’d get a bunch of new Game of Thrones designs out the door, but I’ve decided to take my time on them to ensure the quality of the designs are in line with the recent Direwolves jersey.

For House Lannister I went with a bit of a departure from the 2.0 design, going with a red home jersey. I jettisoned the ‘Lions’ moniker because it was too short a name to be spread atop the main logo, so I went with Casterly Rock. The main logo also features a full-body Lion instead of the head profile. Here is a mockup:

My only worry is that it looks too fancy. I know how immature my readers are, and I don’t want to alienate them. Why am I voicing my concern? I don’t think anyone reads this stuff. They just look at the pictures and move along. I just feel so used.

My hope is to get this and Baratheon 2.0, Greyjoy 2.0, and Night’s Watch 2.0 (those last two are still being worked on) posted on Geeky Jerseys’ homepage soon. I’m hoping to attract more interest in GoT designs that aren’t House Stark, which is an uphill battle; the Starks are so synonymous with winter, and thus suited for a hockey jersey.

The first Greyjoy design was a hit with fans of the Ironborn, but it wasn’t popular enough to warrant being offered. As part of my recent initiative to spur popularity for other GoT Houses that aren’t House Stark, I’ve given the Krakens a makeover.

I went with black, which is a popular choice for folks (on the other end, people seem to loathe white jerseys). I also chose Vegas Gold to help give House Greyjoy a differing look from House Baratheon. The end result is something I hope is as striking as the Direwolves.

House Greyjoy is still a longshot to be offered. They are not as popular as Stark, Lannister, Targaryen, and Baratheon. Hopefully one day it’s offered.

Happy St. Patrick’s Day! Disclaimer: I do not watch this show, so it’s probably not as clever as fans would like, but I feel it’s a design that a non-fan like myself would wear, so there’s that.

I’m reminded of the last St. Patty’s Day design I made a few years back, which we had to withdraw for legal reasons. It’s a shame because I was hoping to make the Boondock Saints a yearly staple.

Had this Titanfall design parked on the drawing table for a few months, its delay in getting here was my inability to create a an actual logo for the front to replace the Titans wordmark (which I used as a placeholder). I’m not a fan of wordmark logos on a hockey jersey, but I grew to like this one, mostly because it compliments the busy jersey design perfectly.

Anyways I decided to share this for now, but maybe one day I’ll take another stab at creating a full logo for the front.

Not much to explain here, I used the Titanfall controller as inspiration for this jersey, but opted to make the primary color black. One thing that might be hard to see: I put the Respawn logo by the laces on the front.

Ah Spring. It’s now time for one of the greatest traditions known to man: a brand new season of Game of Thrones. Also for a few people out there it’s now the start of “baseball” season.

To celebrate America’s past-time here’s a Buffy The Vampire Slayer baseball jersey design. Yeah it’s a bit gory.

I know what you’re thinking: “Dave, you’re using Fall colors in the Springtime?!“, and all I can say is that it’s not easy being a rebel. Wait until I design a bunch of white jerseys after Labor Day.

No plans to release this design (which was based on the suit worn by Snake in the recent Zeroes game, by the way).

When I was a kid I used to own the Wayne Gretzky Overtime table hockey set. Every hockey player, including those that came with the table, came with a little stand so you can display them when they’re not affixed to the table.*

I mention these table hockey players because they were small and fun to collect (and even customize). I’m hoping that one day a similar approach could be taken with NHL players from the EA 16-bit era (NHL Hockey 92, NHLPA 93, NHL 94 – NHL 97). These small figurines would be a blast to collect.

*These stands were great because you can snap them together to make a big team stand. A similar approach could be used for the EA figurines too.

Some really basic designs here for the Joes and their foes, I hope you dig them. I cannot confirm or deny any new Hasbro hockey jerseys are being made by my friends at 80′s Tees, this is because their rules are almost identical to Fight Club.

The numbers on the arms are supposed to look like strapped-on weapons (like this),  and that’s all I have to say about this often-requested design.

The Thomas Jane Punisher film is one of my all-time guilty pleasures. It’s fun and bloody and doesn’t take itself too seriously (despite all the displays of brooding). Wish there were more films like it.

So now I need to make a design for the Merc with a Mouth…

A couple of simple designs for Supergirl and Batgirl, which are just an excuse to test drive a woman’s jersey template. I don’t believe Geeky Jerseys will be doing women’s sizes anytime soon, but I hope to post more designs for girls.

Robin Batman Logo Hockey Jersey

This design for Robin features a logo that foreshadows the Boy Wonder’s future as Nightwing (uh, spoiler maybe?). I was going for a 30′s comic book cover for this one, and the white letters really sell that style. I believe the San Jose Sharks are currently lacing up their collars just like the style shown above, which is perfect for a Robin jersey.

I made a few more Robin designs, please check them out here (it’s a .gif, so give it a few seconds to cycle).

Sadly there are still no plans to do DC Comics stuff. If I could I’d offer the Green Lantern one this instant.

Mystery Science Theater 3000 Logo

By popular demand, here is a Mystery Science Theater 3000 design for the many dedicated fans of the show. I thought it best to do a riff on the Lego Spaceman design from way back.

I don’t think this would ever be offered, as it falls under the Universal Studios’ no-fly zone.

Special thanks to the folks from my Facebook page for choosing MST3K, and to several people for offering up suggestions (like the Gizmonic and Deep 13 patches).

Grab Your Own NHL ’94 Chair Mat

Last year I designed this chair mat based on NHL ’94, and it proved to be a hit with many folks. My friends at ES Robbins made the chair mat sample which became famous on Puck Daddy.

Until now there was no way to allow others to get their own, but I’m happy to announce that ES Robbins has created a brand-new DIY website where you can upload your own image and you can buy a custom chair mat for $88 with free shipping (US Customers only).

As for the art, I will supply it for you. You just need to email me (davesgeekyideas@live.ca) the following information:

- SNES or Genesis

- Star Color

- Do you want the “puck control” highlight inside the star?

- Player number (1 or 2 digits) and position (G, D, L, R, C, for Goalie, Defenseman, Left Wing, Right Wing, and Center respectively).

You can then upload it at the Office Trends website when you purchase your chair mat. This for the 36″ x 48″ chair mats (carpet and hardfloor models).

These are your only design options right now from me. I’m sure many want Gretzky blood in there, and I would like to eventually add that option, but I can’d find accurate sprites for that injury.

Note: I stretched the art vertically from the game so it would read better on the floor. The finished model would be similar to the top pic, where there’d be a clear border outside the image.

Hill Valley Baseball Jersey Design

And my first-ever Back To The Future design for this blog is a baseball one! And why not, baseball feels more old-timey than hockey in my opinion.

Initially I wanted to do a caricature of Principal Strickland, but I opted to enlist Elmer Fudd, and he looks great as a sports mascot. Also the Looney Tunes character is very anachronistic to the 50′s, and I’d like to think the students at Hill Valley would use Elmer in the same rebellious fashion.

As for the lack of pinstripes, sorry but those look better on white jerseys. Also my readership has an aversion to white jerseys, so the above design reflects what I hope people would want to wear*. Also I decided to use a Yankees-style logo instead a baseball script logo (seen above) for a change of pace. The logo can be interpreted as an H and a V, or H-V-H, or 2 H’s (not sure why you’d want 2 H’s!).

*Hopefully Geeky Jerseys will have some news on baseball jerseys soon. And when that happens I’ll probably revisit this and other baseball jersey designs.

Time Lords Baseball Jersey

Another baseball post, but this is one that many of you have been waiting for. My friends at Geeky Jerseys have made this Time Lords sample jersey, and it looks pretty spiffy if I may say so. I changed the numbers to match the Tardis 4.0 hockey jersey, other than that it’s the design I posted last year.

So would you be interested in grabbing one? The same name and number customization would be offered. A price point is TBD, but I’m hoping they’d be cheaper than hockey jerseys. Let me know by liking, tweeting, and commenting.

Lastly a special thanks to Geeky Jerseys for making this jersey and taking these first steps towards branching out into other sports. Exciting times are ahead!
